Ok, so it’s not like I update this site often, but with a new kid and lots of work, I barely have time to look at other sites, let alone update mine.
At any rate, I found this new theme and immediately added it to the site - I do plan to update it shortly - but I thought you can have a sneak-peek of the before and after in the meantime.
cheers

Here’s one for the road:
Two ints and a Float walk into a ToolBar. They spot an attractive Double sitting by herself.
The first int walks up to her and says: ‘Hey, baby, my VM or yours?’. She slaps him and he returns dejected.
The second int walks over. ‘Hey, cute-stuff, can I cook your Beans for breakfast?’. He too gets slapped and walks back.
The Float then strides towards here and goes: ‘Were those two primitive types bothering you?’
‘Yes. I’m so glad you’re here’, she says. ‘They just had no Class!’

A few days ago I stumbled upon a Firefox extension (now known as add-ons) called Firebug. It touted itself as a debugger for JavaScript which is cool all by itself. I installed it and quickly forgot it was there (very unobtrusive). Foolish me, I should have started using it right away, but I am getting ahead of myself here.
Today I saw this video and my jaw dropped. Finally, I can take the guess work out of debugging my JavaScripts (and, of course, I can take out all my debugging alert boxes our my code too). Finally, I have the tools for the front-end to know exactly what my DOM looks like (although, I have had the ability to see this before, it was never as polished as Firebug from looks of it).
From their website:
FireBug lets you explore the far corners of the DOM by keyboard or mouse. All of the tools you need to poke, prod, and monitor your JavaScript, CSS, HTML and Ajax are brought together into one seamless experience, including a debugger, error console, command line, and a variety of fun inspectors.
I will write more later about my experiences with Firebug after I take it out for a good spin on my next projects.
Stay tuned.

I was cleaning up my PC the other day and came across with an old application I once wrote while learning Swing. I figured I’d just pack it and release it as others may find it useful (or not).
So, Let me introduce you to….
RenameIT
RenameIT is a Java Swing application that, given a folder name and a prefix, will rename all the files in that folder to the following format:
[prefix]_[seq.number].[file extension]
Requires Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.2 or better installed on your computer (most computers nowadays have it)
You can obtain a FREE copy of this application in the downloads section.
Once, I have some time to clean up the code, I will release the source code as well, very likely under the GPL, for others to use it as a learning tool (as the application itself is very simple)

In Part I of this series, we discussed how to save your business some money by using services such as Skype or Vonage for your long distance calls.
In this second installment, we will go the opposite way and ask you to spend money. Counter-intuitive? maybe but not until you read the rest of article.

The site is slowly being refreshed. Look for a new logo, new (and relevant) content, and more frequent updates in the upcoming weeks.
Most visibly, the portfolio section is getting a makeover, along with a brand-spanking new theme being applied to the overall site.
The theme is a different-coloured version of the original theme by The Undersigned
Plugins are being added for a variety of reasons ranging from coolness factors to usefulness (actually, the other way around ;o) )
Anyhow, this is the start of a newer/fresher site. I hope you enjoy it

Ok, since I run a small web consulting business, I have come accross articles and tips given by other people in the industry, other businesses, and seasoned free-lancers. I thought this time I would provide some tips of my own on how to help you run your small business.
Mind you, I am only suggesting certain technologies that will either save you money, time, or both. I am in no particular position to tell you how to run your business (I would not know how anyway). Also, and let’s get this out of the way right away: You are free to follow all, some, or none of my tips but please do so at YOUR OWN RISK.
What I write here are only tips, you are free to take them or not, mold them to suit your business, or use them to invent new ways to do what you do. Your are under no obligation to do anything and therefore, I WILL NOT OWE YOU anything if my advise did not work well in your particular case. There, I said it up front.
Now that we are all clear, let us start with Part I of this series.
How To Reduce Your Long Distance Telephone Bill
Voice over Internet Protocol (aka VoIP), enables your computer to carry voice signals over the Internet. What this means is that you can use your computer, your internet connection, and your microphone to talk to your friends and family, colleagues, or strategic partners even for long distance calls.

We are amidst re-developing our website (again). The old look was getting, well, old.
So, here we are, with a fresh look and very little content. Please forgive us, but we can only do so much during the day.
Soon, all the content you came here to read will be, well, here.
Thanks a lot for your understanding
